Aromatherapy Essential Oil is Relaxation & Healing

In a world full of stress and stress related problems, more folks than ever before are looking for ways to de-stress by simply escaping to an uncomplicated and relaxing world of simplicity for an hour or two. Recent years have seen a huge increase in the popularity in oriental methods of relaxation and healing such as massage, yoga, Tai Chi and the peace and tranquility which come from a room filled with aromatherapy essential oil.

So as you can see, there are many forms of therapy floating around today. Among my personal favorites is aromatherapy. This is not considered a cure for any serious health or emotional problems but it does serve as a great way to unwind after a long day and so can assist the mind and body to heal itself by soothing the physical and emotional state of the patient. Aromatherapy essential oil is the foundation for the therapeutic scents that can be administered in a spa or at home.

I prefer to simply relax at home. I have my favorite aromatherapy essential oil right next to the towels in my bathroom. The attractive bottle serves as a lovely piece of decoration that is as appealing to the eye as it is to the nose. This added feature makes the entire experience more pleasurable.

Creating an in-home spa is an inexpensive alternative to visiting a pricy outfit. I find it hard to relax when I know that I am spending a chunk of money that could be used for more practical things. No aromatherapy essential oil on earth can cure a severe case of guilt. I know. I’ve tried!

Having said that, when I was on vacation in South East Asia last year, I found that these therapies are so cheap and so well run, that I probably spent about forty percent of my time having aromatherapy massage in dimly lit rooms surrounded by aromatherapy candles and a range of aromatherapy oils I've never ever seen or head of back home. It truly was a most remarkable experience and at around $20 to $30 dollars for a 90 minute session, how could I possibly have ignored the opportunity?

I don't have the same feeling about spas back home though. There's just something about having aromatherapy essential oil treatment in the Orient that can't be found on home soil. Also, I don’t want to drive home after an hour of deep relaxation. A really good aromatherapy essential oil will put you in a very heavy state of calm that does not have any business behind the wheel of a car. I would have to undo some of the effects of the aromatherapy essential oil in order to operate my vehicle.

This is not to suggest that the oil is intoxicating but certain ones can really have a profound effect on your system. This is especially true if you make certain associations with the scents. The sense of smell is strongly tied to memory. It is important that your aromatherapy essential oil is linked to calm, happy memories.

For example, many people love the smell of lavender. I am not one of those people. When I was a child, I chewed on a flower from the plant and fell quite ill. When I smell the aromatherapy essential oil that contains the essence of lavender, I feel a little queasy. This can not be helped. I make the association because of the memorable event.

Keep this in mind when shopping for your perfect aromatherapy essential oil. Go with what you like instead of what is recommended. You may have some memories of your own that you would like to rekindle.

You owe it to yourself to de-stress, and by using these essential oils taken from flowers, herbs, and trees will help to promote health, well-being, and peace of the mind, and that can only be a good thing. You may find that you're able to use this wonderful therapy to relax beyond all belief.

Did You Know?

A French chemist called René-Maurice Gattefossé coined the term aromatherapy to describe the process of using plant oils therapeutically. The story goes that, while working in a perfume factory in the early 20th century, he burnt his hand and instinctively grabbed some lavender oil and poured it onto the burn. He was so impressed by how quickly and cleanly the burn healed, he began studying the healing powers of plant oils
